Does eSATA for an external HDD reduce damand on USB?

Or in some way does it all come down to the same data choke-point inside the computer? My hope would be that an eSATA connection from a laptop to the HDD, leaving the USB exclusively for connection to the DAC, could result in better sound. (I'll probably keep playing music files from the HDD.)

Currently on my venerable IBM T41 laptop there's a 2TB external HDD, my USB/SPDIF converter and my mouse connected to one, unpowered USB hub (all attached devices are self-powered). I'm not able to discern a specific class of problems (no dropouts, clicks, etc) stemming from having an overloaded USB. That may because my current system lacks the resolution...

See the Toshiba eSATA propoganda in the link. I do have a very large amount of music to shuffle around and back up, so eSATA makes sense just from a file manipulation standpoint.
