Agree with many of your points:
No problem with PC in same room as long as it has virtually silent HDD. Macs and some other PCs are not machanically noisier than a CDP
What's wrong with your AC? There's no more reason to have your PC on a different AC circuit than having your CDP on a seperate circuit. Why not use batteries anyway?
Your PC is inevitably electrically connected to your audio system unless you go wireleess - I agree that you shouldn't consider wireless for signal - OK for control though.
Ageee about lossy - no need whatsoever for degrading the signal for the sake of a few megabites of storage
External HDDs are preferable provided they are virtally silent - many are
Of course you'd be daft not to back up your files
Analogue outputs from your PC will be crap - internal DACs are primative
I agree there is no reason whatsoever to transmit your audio signal wirelessly (unless perhaps you locate your PC in another room). Why risk dropouts when you can easily hard-wire?
USB or Firewire are likely to be the best interface between PC and audio system - why do you think otherwise?
Can't comment on your other points although I don't see your logic.
Peter
