I'm only using an M-Audio USB Audiophile at the moment, so I didn't want to spend too much. So I bought Kimber's USB cable a few months ago for $45 (for 1 meter). Previously I was only using the 8 foot stock cable (with no ferrite) that came with the USB DAC. Well, the difference in SQ was not subtle. I was mainly interested in a short cable with good build quality and never anticipated such a difference in SQ, but it was there. I have not tried any other brand, but I can imagine what a little more money can get you. I suppose the improvement in SQ I heard was just removing the AC grunge/interference or something.
