but this is why I specifically asked about this drive - 3.5 is more reliable and more storage etc - so I know about the limitation of the 620 slim in terms of "power" or the for the buck.

Technically, I have the space to put something in another room but I prefer a more portable solution and this device is supposedly capable of being placed in the living room and is inaudible.

I have found that my 2.5' Portable HDD connected to a PC or laptop has been quiet. My 3.5' HDD drives - have been louder.

When I return to Canada I will follow in your footsteps - so this is more like a "dip my toe into NAS" kind of deal. I have three external WD 3.5' drives and 4 portable drives - mainly - trying to reduce the clutter in onee nice package.
