I'd look at the DS1522+ --- The 2.5 Limitation of the DS620Slim would be enough to put me off. Not as many options for storage, and may not be as reliable....I have a DS1520+ and the Larger Drives of the 3.5 Variety are still your best bang for the buck... Hard drive prices have stabilized in the 4TB area. Don't count on any screaming deals in Hard Drives in the near future. It just hasn't happened.
Also you seem to be focused on 'Quiet' -- My NAS systems are in my Basement in the same room as the Furnace, Air Ex-changer, Hot water Heater, water softener and my Main Router, Cable Modem, Switches etc..... The NAS is probably the quietest appliance in that room. There is no way I would locate my NAS in my Audio Room -- totally unnecessary.
It might be Cute, but that's about all I can see over a Full featured NAS.
Here is a Picture of my NAS Systems (Main NAS 5 Bay System and Backup NAS 4 Bay System), Router, Switches, Cable Modem, Raspberry Pi LMS Server and Power Supply, all in my Utility room behind Closed Doors.
