In my view it is better to stick with conventional usage of well-defined concepts such as impedance = (Delta V)/(Delta I), since it is meaningful and is understood in almost all of electronic circuit theory.
But as you say, we are probably in agreement about the actual underlying facts, and it is only the words used to describe it that differ.
