Yes, but you might've jumped the gun by concluding that the mechanism must be one of those old mundane things by automatically eliminating all other possibilities. Just because you hear the effect of stronger magnets on the CLC doesn't necessarily mean that magnetism is the operating principle. The ideas that the clock should be functioning (ON) and/or the time displayed by the clock might be important are very interesting, though.Methinks It will be very difficult, if not impossible, to discover the real mechanism for the CLC because - as I've said - the real mechanism will not not appear on your List of Possible Hypotheses. I.e., a *complete* List of Hypotheses for the CLC cannot be compiled by collecting candidate hypotheses from physics and electronics textbooks, Audio Journals and Google searches.
