Hi Tom - maybe in bass guitar amps - low primary L is good? Traynor trannies have low primary dcr copared to hi-fi couterpartshad a pair of 1K p-p 13lb M6 cores wound a number of years ago - p-pdcr about 24R - at small signal would go to 140K on 2&8 ohm taps - then two octaves worse on 4&6 - haven't felt good nuff to apply them - also not sure what to build - only power tranny laying around is 400vac @1.5A - guess 4-EL509 might work with 120vdc screen? they have possibilites but am not sure if push-pull triode room heater with a bunch of dvices or 6C33B will sound as good as just one pair (or for lower power - one 6BX7 twin triode)
got a sick XL280 - power glitch 2 years ago left it buzzing with ~15vdc coming out of both channels on DVM - might not be dead (?) - not sure about moosefarts vs bipolar - used to think my NAD stank on ice but have heard it do some things ok with certain speakers
how much cap after the choke did it take to muck with the Stereo 70's sound? - once had GSI 6DJ8 diff-amp front end in Stereo 70 - sounded Ok in ways
