If a horn is a broadband resonator, then it would make sense that the speaker would start a resonance, then the horn would feed the driver. Since speakers are vibrating devises, in a sense the horn would make the speaker more compliant at certain frequencies. Most drivers if you find a way of increasing its compliance (replacing the spider or surround with a more compliant material) then this lowers its Fs, so it seems this is what a horn is doing as well. Not so much changing the Fs but lowering it bass extention by allowing it to react with the horn more, thus producing lower tones.
Am I on the right track or am I still not getting it?
