Tom,I am not absolutely certain that you are referring to me in this and other similar posts, but it appears that you are. So I'd like to make a statement about this matter. If you were referring to someone else in these recent posts about lawsuit threats against you, then this statement may not apply.
I wrote a letter to you on July 14th which was resent on July 16th. A copy of this letter is attached below. In this letter, I asked you to refrain from making reference to me or my products in my absense. I also asked you to communicate this to John Hancock, since it appears that you and he have a close relationship. There was no mention of consulting with lawyers or threat of filing suit. In fact, the letter was not particularly negative in any way.
I wrote this letter in response to an increasing number of negative comments and innuendos that you had made, hoping to de-escalate what appeared to be an increasing tone of hostility on this forum. The letter was forwarded to several people, so that there would be some visibility in this matter. Included in that list of people who saw this letter was the Audio Asylum website owner, who had also asked you to refrain from making comments laced with accusations and innuendos.
If it was my letter that you were referring to in recent posts about lawsuits against you, then it is my opinion that you have used mention of this letter purely as a way to sway public opinion. I don't think the bad press was deserved, and I felt it was appropriate to bring this to light. So since you have brought this to public attention, I think it is now best to provide my recent letter for all to see. I have attached it below.

Hello Tom,Please refrain from bringing me or my products into the conversation when you are in a discussion with someone else. Also, kindly suggest that John Hancock do the same. I can see that you have a relationship with him, and I think it would be appropriate for you to speak with him about it.
This is very similar to a situation that occured a couple of years ago. Some Pi Speaker owners and participants on the Pi Speaker forum wrote to me telling me of the comments made by Mark Seaton about the Lambda Unity and in comparison with Professional Series four Pi loudspeakers. I don't think there is any need to rehash the details because I think you are aware of them. But the fact is that I was told from multiple sources that Mark Seaton had been bashing my products in comparisons with the Lambda Unity, which by all indications was not a very good product. Some of his comments were forwarded to me and we eventually had some public discussions on the Audio Asylum forums. So you may be able to see some similar patterns developing now with you and Hancock bashing me in my absense.
I never liked this business of product bashing. Any negative comments always reflect as much on the teller as they do on the person, place or thing that the comments are made about. So when I have become so frustrated by some people that I've participated in mutual exchanges of this sort, the damage to both peace of mind and more tangable goodwill is troubling. But do not think that it is I who came out "gunning" for you because the truth is quite the opposite.
I have purposely removed myself from Audio Asylum's "High Efficiency" forum. It has become counterproductive for me to be there, and it looks to me like all manufacturers hold a compromised position there. I provide plans for all of my products free of charge, along with several technical papers, lab handout worksheets and loudspeaker design software. Because of this, I felt like it was probably a pretty good thing for the DIY community, and in fact, that was the only reason I even did anything in this regard. My audio work and plans were underutilized over much of the last couple of decades because my primary business is digital design work, industrial control mostly. But as the free plans on the internet grew in popularity and the forum traffic soared, I believed that my participation on the HE Asylum was useful.
However, it appears to me that a very negative trend has developed on the Audio Asylum, primarily towards manufacturers. It seems that to pay to support the site is actually now seen as a bad thing. So I'm not particularly interested in maintaining my visibility there. Amateurs and non-engineers are much more welcome there, and when competing manufacturers begin to discuss technical isues, the situation becomes much worse.
So I would appreciate it if you would leave me out of it. If you wish to stay visible on the Audio Asylum, that is your choice but please refrain from mention of me or my products.
