Bert,
Bob needs to increase the volume of the Rhea sub, probably by increasing the signal voltage going to it. Adding resistance to the sub's input will decrease its maximum volume. Or are you addressing a different problem?Bob has 2 options:
decrease the gain of the amplifier driving the Lowthers; or
increase the voltage going to the sub.If using either of the sub's input options does not provide enough loudness from the sub, then Bob will probably need to use the line-level input to the sub in addition to an amplifier with less gain driving the Lowthers.
Or get a different sub. Most RELs these days have +12 dB line-level inputs on RCAs.
Or replace the Lowthers with less efficient speakers, such as Fostex - which I just happen to have free plans for on the site below.
