I remember going in a listening room where a snake oil salesman was trying to convince us that his his "AC Filter" plugged into a common AC Power strip was making a sonic difference and how much better the sound was when it was plugged in, after unplugging it.I'm the only one in the room and spoke up and showed him my Paul Klipsch Yellow button, stating I heard Zero difference.
You complain about cables that cost $1/foot, yest some guys want to charge $15,000 for a pair of 10 foot ones ($750/foot).
I think your are too low in your assessment of how much audiophools will pay for this stuff.
Like the idea you even need 4 AWG cables that could jump start a Locomotive, for home speakers.
Most Passive PA speakers, whose guts I have seen, use regular 18 AWG wire.
When I asked Paul Klipsch why they were using Monster Cable for 1985 Klipschorns (in the hallway outside the Plant Library) he said: "Marketing's waste of good copper to drive a #30 AWG voice coil in the woofer." LOL
