One nice thing about a class D on a high efficiency speaker is they have a very low noise floor, better than any tube amp.
And if you get the right one, sounds better than a tube amp too in any of the ways that audiophiles feel is important, like 'smooth, relaxed and detailed sound'.
I've been doing it for years at this point and don't miss the tube amps at all. My speakers are 98dB, 16 Ohms and flat to 20Hz (Classic Audio Loudspeakers model T3); easy load for any tube amp!
