. . . it will play too loud and sound excessively bright or shrill. Therefore its output needs to be attenuated to match that of the midrange. This is commonly done with a voltage divider or "L-pad" circuit, consisting of a series and a parallel resistor, which can be calculated if you know the real impedance of the tweeter and the number of dB you need to reduce its output.
