Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

RE: My cheap-0 experiment - what do you think???

You are using a tweeter on a horn, you won't need to add one. You will need to pad the HF by about 12 dB, a pair of L pads would be a good thing to get so you can adjust to taste. You won't have much in the low bass department unless you do plenty eq.

A simple 6dB (choke on the woofer, cap on the tweet) will probably work fine for the (too high) crossover point you have chosen.

.5 mH choke on the woofer, 8 uf capacitor on the tweet should be close to 2500 Hz.

Since you are using such a hot tweeter compared to the woofer, I'd suggest going lower, perhaps a .85 coil and 13 uf capacitor, for around 1500 hz, or 1.3 mH with 20 uf for 1K. A lower point will give a more uniform dispersion around the crossover, and probably have less distortion overall.

Have fun, like the look of those classic cabs.
