Haitink and Nagano

Hi Robert-

I haven't heard the Nagano for a while, but I remember it being *very* slow in Part II, which is already a very long movement. His slowness makes for an effective ending, but you feel like you want him to pick up the pace elsewhere. As for Haitink, it's still a favorite of mine performance-wise (I like his swift, no-nonsense, straightforward approach) and the recording quality (from 1970, I believe) emphasizes the remarkable acoustics of the Concertgebouw in its breadth and depth, but at the expense of low bass (or really *any* bass). (I know that's important to you!) It actually sounds pretty lean as a result.
