I've also not mastered the 'jargon' of the high end audio equipment world. With that limitation it's sometimes a little frustrating to attempt to describe in words what is heard in music. You have piqued my curiosity a bit though with some of your mod related statements.

I understand your comments about hearing being affected by certain percussion instruments over time. My son, a symphony horn player, has had to, in the past, play in symphony environments where no lucite shielding was provided between horns and percussion. I remember his comments about the effects on hearing. I can imagine what the effects would be over time, especially with no protection between you and certain of those percussion instruments. Unfortunately, I have to figure your high end hearing loss into my perception of how you hear the results of this Denon 2900 mod from the perspective of improved sound. No insult intended - My age is also ranging up into the years. Ears change, some more than others (profession is a factor).

You said, "I couldn’t believe only ModWright had a package and it was really pretty vague." Excuse me for my skeptic nature, but this comment surprised me a bit. It made me wonder if your post is more of a planted ad than a legitimate review. From what I've found in my research on mods for the 2900, Modwright web page upgrade descriptions come across as more detailed than others, including, by a longshot, the descriptions provided by Reference Audio Mods. So a level of concern surfaced for me when you referred to ModWright's package as "pretty vague".

So, who were the 3 or 4 best modders in the country you talked to? What was it that brought you to Reference Audio Mods? Did you talk to Dan Wright and compare the Reference Audio mods with what Dan has to offer at half the price?

Sorry if this sounds rude. I realize I'm not the world's warmest personality. When I was younger I'd have used twice the number of words in order to have the topic sound prettier, but I guess with age, some of us start questioning the validity of that activity.
