I’ve been so busy listening to the stereo SACD layers that I haven’t spent any quality time with the CD layers on the new discs. I did compare the stereo SACD layer to the CD layer on “Tangled Up in Blue,†which is track one on “Blood on the Tracks.†I concluded that the SACD layer sounded more relaxed and detailed, with less distortion on Dylan’s voice.As to your question re: whether the SACDs’ improvements are due to better remastering or a higher sampling rate, my guess is that it’s a combination of both. The bottom line for SACD player owners, though, is better sound.
