New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

I have to respond. the sad truth of SACD which very few mention here at this forum is that the substantial noise in and/or near audible range exist. Such noise is absent, lets comment, in PCM 192/24 as we know it. Indeed, as Ric suggested, look into April issue of Stereophile noise measurmnnts of Phillips SACD-1000 and 333es (9000es behave similarly, i don't know noise distribution in SCD-1/SA-1 , but every proud owner of this units may consider that by some "magic" their machines do not obey laws of physics). This why Sony uses 6-7 Butterrworth (very sharp) filters in "cascade" and each filter has five - six poles. If this is not the most "brick wall" approach in the history of audio I would be surprise, and yes Adi, such filters introduce HUGE, HUGE, HUGE distortions (attention proud owners of SCD-1/777/SA-1: your palyers's filters probably introduce only relatively HUUUUUGE distortions). So what we do? Today, we move filters on "custom" mode further away (from 50kHz to 100kHz)from audible range where distortions will be less effective and every idiot on this forum can hear DRAMATIC DIFFWERENCE !!!! (9000es filter cut off frequency is 75kHz). These filters kill sound. What is possible solution? There are few digital filters developed recently which sooner or later will penetrate consumer electronics market and which will delete noise everythere in frequency (its not hi or low pass filters) without inducing phase distortions. So, SACD has many advantages, today, over CD, but NOT regarding noise and we are paying price bt HEAVY analog filtering. Someone mentioned that Sony isintroducing new digital filter which might need minium of "butcher -like" filtering occuring now. DSD is in its very beginning (and so is DVD-A, BTW) and the saound will be better and better
Regarding modifiers: Ric Schultz is absolutely right when he stated below that part substitude is the "level one" and only beginning. For example, when I asked Stan Warren to throw these "brick wall" filters away and install filters he designed for CD Players/DACs( I undestand, they are similar to Bessel type, 3d order) which are much less prone to induce distortions he said that level of unfliltered noise will be unbearable to me. So, we will learn and during this process we will enjoy learning. Life is fu..g beatiful !!! If Demery can comment on analog/digital filters (e.g. 3D diffusion type filters) in SACD I would very much appreciate. Simon
