Also interesting: While audiophiles could profit from new technologies like DVD Audio and Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), hard- and software sales in Germany are surprisingly low.And yet there is one success story: The end of analog TV in the German capital area made DVB-T a huge success, and nearly 200,000 receivers have been sold so far. A few more metropolitan areas like Cologne/Bonn will follow this year.
And digital audio? DAB may have 30,000+ listeners nationwide, each of them still heavily subsidized (up to €17,000, some sources say).
What if the industry would all of a sudden stop producing (SA)CDs and radio stations would give up analog broadcasts?
