sorry; i'm not politically correct.....i've just spent a year with the dart amps in and out of my system. the answer here is clear to me.the Pass XA amps are some of the better solid state amps i have heard. definitely always listenable and without that solid state one-dimentionality to tone and character that gets in the way of musical involvement for me. the Pass XA amps seem to have a 'taste' of textural nuance and expressiveness that you speak of (i have not had any Pass XA amps in my system but have heard them numerous times).
the darTZeel goes a lot farther down this road to the extent that it will exceed the nuance and textural expressiveness of most every tube amp i have heard. there are tube amps with more bloom and 'golden' character....but that is color for color's sake....not musical truth.
the dart will not impose it's own character on the sound; if you are looking for some thing to 'tame' the musical balance of a system this is not the answer.
Dkb; from my reading of your preferences over the years the dart will scratch your itch perfectly.......the dart is about the inner meaning of music but also gets the dynamic energy of music.
as good as the dart amp sounds; when combined with the dart pre it is simply amazing and is as natural and expressive as any tube amplifier....with considerably more detail and truth......really quite profound.
i do caution to make sure that you demo a dart amp that is fully broken in (700 hours minimum) and has the DC offset set to the 'off' position. otherwise you will not attain the refinement it is capable of.
