Serus, thanks for the response. I have a buddy who owns the complete 700 series, in mint condition. You are right about that preamp. It's a killer. He's driving ADS L-1290's with his set-up, and all I can say is WHEW! Just sounds incredible. I'm not sure I agree with your verdict on the phono stage though. He's using a Grado Sonata on a Rega 25, and it's beautiful. Not perfect, but really quite and very dynamic. God knows how vinyl needs all the help it can get in those areas.

It's funny that you think the team who designed many of the components in question had no business working for Kenwood. I used to think that way too. But then I realized that the best audio minds begin their careers at big companies. Typically, they pay the best and spend the most on recruitting. Hats off to Kenwood for giving them such license to produce no-holds-barred gear. You're right about Accuphase. But not all of them went there. Some went to Luxman and Onkyo I believe as well- the Original Integra Line being the fruit of that labor.
