RE: TVCs are the audiophile's Rube Goldberg machine ;-)

I have 23 taps, zero issues with volume adjustments, I got a stereo stepper switch with remote from John at Bent audio that has a wonderful ASMR "thud" sound.

I am aware that TVCs can be sensitive to noise and need a strong source to drive them .

As mentioned, I am still blown away with the sound quality, I have used a few different resistive tup attenuators and they don't even come close to SQ I am getting. I good friend also bought the Silver Rock when I did, totally different system, same results.

I believe that you are a designer, do you have an Idea of why this would sound better and different than a preamp? is it a loading / impedance issue? To me, it seems like other attenuators sound best at higher volume levels around 2 o'clock, the TVC has no sweet spot and the amount of low level detail is amazing.

This is a mystery to me.
