Get a variac and/or a power conditioner. The difference you heard might be equally due to line voltage variations on the day you turned it on. Occasionally I test mine with a DVM...it can vary quite a bit in my neighborhood depending upon weather. I've measured from a high of 125V to a low of 110V.
