The FT-3 are for real. They sound edgy and even distorted at first. Just let them play. After 6 hours they settled in and then disappeared after about 25 hours. When they disappear you think the highs are rolled off again, but they are not. The white noise at the top is now gone. The frequency is there but without the background.
Kind of like using dithering in digital recordings. You need some amount of noise or you lose low level detail.
You know what I like the most about the Mundorfs? First the bass is really well fleshed out. A Fender bass will sound round and fat, and a Rickenbacher will sound tight and lean. They just do bass really well.
Second, I just love the wall to wall sound. I feel like I can stand up and walk around the sound stage. More importantly to me the sound stage is nicely focused and delineated. Much better than AuriCaps or Dynamicaps. I missed the highs with Silver Supremes alone, but I got them back with the Teflons.
These two are a match made in heaven. I am glad I purchased them!
Cheers!
