Message for John Curl: What mods for HCA-1000a

John Curl once mentioned mods for the HC1000 I wonder what they consist of.....

....and if they are worthwhile for the use I'm making of my HCA1000

I recently got a Parasound HCA-1000 (I think it is a rev "A" model if there is such a thing) - I am using it in a triamp system to drive a pair of SEAS W15CH001 6 inch drivers per side in parallel (therefore about 4 ohms) from 160 Hz to 2500 Hz (98 dB/octave crossover slopes)

So, the amp is not driving any low frequency signals, the load should be pretty benign too - the two drivers in parallel are ~ 2.3 ohms DC resistance in series with 0.24 mH inductance, this is not very reactive.

I don't know how much power the amp is called upon to deliver in my application. I don't think I am pushing it- the room is rahter small. It IS true that loudness is logarithmic so if I turn up the volume to twice as loud I am asking for 10 times more power... so maybe there are demands being placed. According to my SPL meter I rarely exceed 98 dB peaks so that should be about 10 watts per side if I guestimate correctly given speaker sensitivity distance and room reflectivity. Anyway, the current overload LEDS never flash, I couldn't imagine playing it loud enough to do that.

I wonder if there are any mods to do to this amp; conversely I wonder what other amps out there might be good to look at in this $300~$600 price range which might sound better in this use.
