Re: Digital Amps - The Altenative On A Budget

I have the ICE H2O S250 Signature PWM amp. For SS, I compared it to my factory upgraded Odyssey Audio Stratos Monos with 180k uF caps per side and my Threshold S-250 amp.

After weeks of comparison, I no longer have the Odyssey. The Threshold I kept because it was a Nelson Pass designed amp before he went to form the Pass Labs. So I figure, it could be valuable in the future plus, it has a distinct sound which is fairly good in my system.

I also had the oppurtunity to own some tube amps. I listed them on my review for the ICE H2O that I wrote here at AA. They are great and I have nothing against tubes (I still have a 300B and a restored ST-70 amp)but the ICE is a very good match for my 1.6. As always, these were my experienced and all were gathered in the context of my system setup. BTW, I read that Carver will release a Signature version of their Z series. I am not sure if it comes out in the market already. I am not affiliated to them. It just that some maggie owners reported good synergy with this amps also and they are not "too" pricey.

regards
