You are suffocating the poor things, when you take away the bass response of the speakers it makes them seem much brighter. Bring them out another couple of feet. Then play around with your listening position until you get something close to full range sound. Play around with that for a couple of days..then tweak the room acoustics as mentioned. Also 33 inches from both side and back walls is a poor position for any speaker.Dave
