My guess is that your old room had a higher ceiling.Right away, as other suggested, you should try repositioning your speakers. You'll probably find that moving them closer together (farther from side walls) will help, and closer to your listening position (farther from the wall behind them).
Experiment with damening materials. Try the wall behind the speakers, the side walls, and the ceiling too. Also experiment with sound diffusing items such as ficus trees or, the ugly solution I use: large sheets of crumpled paper on the wall behind the speakers.
