RE: Moving away from planars?

Looks good. The reliability issue seems to come up with Martin Logan ESL's---there seems to be a 10 year or so lifetime for some of the parts.

Perhaps the Janszen doesn't have this problem---sounds like quite a different design.

After Magnepan changed their glue (2005 or so?) I haven't heard any reliability problems---the typical failure mode used to be delamination.

I wonder if some of the VMPS speakers might also be a similar idea, though it's magnetic-planar.

Also, I would consider Philharmonic Audio as well--they have open-backed planar midrange and tweeter, and their crossover was designed by a master.
