The TVC is a passive preamp, w/o active circuits do very little to degrade the signal, but can’t help "fix" (any recordings or system deficiencies) or add anything either. If your current preamp is more constricted, congested, etc., the passive can improve the results by passing along a cleaner signal.

Are you sure your preamp now is the bottleneck?
