Mark,
Is it fair to describe your symptom as a slight lack of 'emotional persuasiveness'?If that's the case, taken with your other comments, I'd say you have
perfectly described a unit that still hasn't fully run in.I don't care what the suggested break in time is; if it ain't run in,
it ain't run in, however many hours it has. :-)I find that imaging and emotional persuasiveness are the last things
to come with running in, and my DIY units typically take 6 months
to get there fully.
What's more, the better the caps (poly in the PSU, teflon signal caps
etc), the longer they take. And I'm sure good ITs also take a long time.My phono stage (Isabelle) is still improving after 5 months - and the
changes are not that subtle. What's more, the latest thing to happen,
in the last few days, was guess what ... some more emotional
persuasiveness. The thing that makes me melt into my chair and quite
literally mutter under my breath, 'this is sooooo lovely', as I did
last night (Julie London, 'Around midnight' ... *not* my normal style
of music!).Now about that other thread you mention; you omitted to give the
*answer* - which was 'Patience'! :-)If you still have the concern after another 2 months then I'd perhaps
question the valves? Could your comments apply to the VV32's generally?
If not, one thought .... could you adapt the cct to use the E80CC
instead of the ECC99, or is its Gm a problem? I only mention this as
I know the E80CC is a very good sounding valve and I guess you do
as well. :-)Good luck, and remember the old joke:
'God, please grant me the gift of patience, and I want it NOW!'
