Anyone have any ideas/suggestions for designs for my Paradigm Studio 20s ?
E-mail me if possible.
Thanks,

do you want something that looks cool or is functional? for cool looks, go with wood and be creative. Make them sand fillable if possible. for functionality, cinder blocks (also known as building blocks) with a little blutak work very well. So do cement slabs. try to make them so that tweeters are at ear level. good luck, rob

If you have a stonemason near you, check the possibilities of having some pillars cut from granite or marble (or other stone he/she might have. You can custom cut them to be the same bottom dimensions as your speakers, and cut to the right height. I have a pair made from unpolished marble and they are excellent. Cost about $80 for the pair.

it sounds like they look great and I bet they are as solid as a rock (maybe because they ARE rocks ;-) Next time I get some satelites I'm going to do this. thanks.

A similar approach for other components. gnat recently bought some large marble (?) slabe to put under his turntable and other components. He reported a remarkable improvement. Cheap. And yes, it looks great.

Yes, this is also on my agenda. I'm picking up some audio refinment (YBA) equipment very soon, and when I do so, I don't want to use sand bags anymore, I want something more atractive. I figure marble or another stone slab will work well with a 12" inner tube underneath ;-)

Hi,
These slabs are granite. 60x50x3 cm, 38x45x2 cm, $60 all, including shipping. BTW, Jim helped me to find granite @ good price. :-)
Bigger one under whole rack, smaller on top of it, under TT - instead of mdf shelf.
Actually, I preferred mdf shelved rack against glass considering this particular upgrade for it. The less you pay *now*, the less you loose *after*.
Big slab sits on 4 pieces of hard rubber in corners. I leveled *whole* rack, using it's bottom spikes. Note that this was (almost?) impossible before: floor is carpet on wooden parquet.
My TT *loved* that change! Part of magic was also some LPs that I considered *bad* before, entered my favourites list after it.
As for looks... it's not so great yet, I still have 3 mdf shelves on rack to replace. :-)
