Specifically how good is the streaming and downloaded music quality? Can you buy songs in an uncompressed format, and if not what level of compression do they use? How easy is it to transfer songs to a portable device (I have an old Intel MP3 player)? Have you used other services you like better?

Thanks in advance

I used Rhapsody for about a year. I use the subscription service.

The sound quality is "ok", not great. WIndows Media 192 KHZ i think.

The only way you can download is to burn direclty to CD. Then you have to rip the CD if you want to move this to a portable. You have to pay extra per track to burh CD's. I haven't downloaded/burned CD's but I believe that it's the same quality as the streaming service. To me, it's a great streaming service, but not usefull for downloading.

If you buy the right portable, I believe that Napster allows you to move 'rented' tracks to the portable. As Win. Media 10 becomes standard this will probably become a standard featureof all the services.

But, I love it anyway. Access to the hugh selection is worth the $10/month. VIrgin also looks like a good service but I haven't tried it yet.
