He was best known for his Grammy-winning pop singing with older sister April Stevens (who sang high harmony), but Mr. Tempo knew his way around the tenor. His ballad style was reminiscent of Getz, and uptempo he was straight ahead and bluesy with great technique, using the full range of the horn...and then some.
