cd transport

They are both "top loaders" and similar size but other than that not much else is the same.

The smsl-pl200 is a CD Player with a built in DAC. The Shanling is a CD Transport without a DAC.

It doesn't appear that they even use the same CD Drive system.

A transport uses your DAC and doesn't have a built in DAC. You connect it to your DAC and with them combined have a "player" that can feed audio to an amplifier, etc.
