Hi,

For the Users of Chinese made speaker cables. Please compare the Valhalla Ribbon Type cables to the 8TC Woven Type Cables? Also OCC Copper vs OCC Silverplated sound. I am playing though Klipschorns with Volti Audio Wooden Horns, Various amps/pre-amps. All Information greatly appreciated.

Chuck

With your total collection of gear and the two mentioned speakers, I don't think there's going to be a one size fits all solution. Even here in my case, I have several different speaker cables that rotate in and out of my two systems. I have 3 sets of Chinese Valhalla's, (2 V1's and a V2) Kudos KS-1's, CRL Bronze, Zu Mission, Wywire Blue's, Mogami 3103 and the quiet underrated "sleeper" Nordost Super Flatline. This not to mention a boatload of jumpers. Frankly I rotate thru all of them depending on my mood and equipment combination. If I were to try a Kimber-type, I'd go with Danny Richie's (GR Research) design. If your source components and amplification are in good synergy, you can fiddle with a plethora of speaker cables and get good results. In the end it's simply going to be a choice determined by you and your ear.

Hi,

I totally agree and have been experimenting for a while... Tubes in, tubes out. I/C and Speaker cabling also. I am specifically interested in Comparisons between the Ribbon (Chinese Nordost) and Braided 8/12 TC (Chinese Kimber). I am looking for some direction/opinions to guide me. The Valhalla 2 certainly can be costly. Thanks for Your Input.

Best Regards,
Chuck

A review of the Chinese Kimber knock-off by Jay (Jay's iyagi) indicated is was not the equal of the real Kimber. Being that quite a few here have had good success with the Chinese Valhalla 1, it would appear to be the safer bet on the cheap. I would check the comments here and see where most have bought their V1's at AliExpress. There's always confusing groups of sellers at AliEx with varied prices.

Good info, Sound Advice (pardon the pun). Certainly appears the Valhalla variants are getting the thumbs up. The Valhalla 2 certainly sports a higher price... Thanks Again.

It's been discussed here before, I think, but from what I've seen the Valhalla (sometimes referred to as the Valhalla 1) is actually a copy of the Heimdall while the Valhalla 2 at least by conductor count is a copy of its namesake. Hence the higher price.

Valhalla 1, 2 are technically not ribbons, just a bunch of round wires in parallel. I do quite like the sound of Chi-Fi Valhalla 2, more than the round Chi-Fi Odin 2, but compared to my true ribbon Silversmith Fidelium (and my Silversmith Silver cables), certain ribbon sound characteristics are not the same..

Chinese Valhalla 1 SC beats every cable I've heard in my system by hundreds of miles.
Chinese 12TC rca interconnect I once bought out of curiosity is the worst interconnect I own.
The exact " Valhalla » I bought is now at very reduced price, see link

Hi,

Please Resend a Link for the Valhalla you purchased. The one you included didn't work at all. Thanks!

I jumped into the Chi-Fi cables last year starting with Odin 2 coax-WOW! Eventually worked my way to speaker cables. Not being a fan of 'ribbons'(they roll up) I bought the Odin 2s, which in my system were very detailed, but a little dry. FYI, I moved them to my video system and have no complaints. I replaced these and XLRs with Odin gold, both of them add needed warmth in my main rig

YMMV
