Well, yes, you are correct in that Uwe should re-register as a manufacturer. I've noticed he hasn't been posting here for quite a while and now that has been pointed out, I'm sure he'll do that.
As to your other points, the Clearaudio is a fully finished product, which is a far cry from what Uwe is selling (and a far cry price wise from what he is selling I might also add). I for one appreciate the info relative to the Talisman being 103 based and others might as well and that info was provided without any "shilling" as far as I'm concerned and I think if you look at the history of Uwe's posts in the asylum it is a severe stretch to say that he has ever "shilled" his product here. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
Follow Ups:
I think Uwe provided a useful and very relevant information that really should have been in the original review, but perhaps the reviewer was not aware of the provenance of the Talisman. True, Uwe did not mention his conflict of interest, but neither did he make any pejorative comments on the Talisman. I'm glad he posted.
He did the board a great service...but then again certain people may not want to hear that the Clearaudio is a re-badged and wooded 103. After all, they just lost a few bucks on the deal.
Uwe's post helps other buyers not make the same mistake.

I've been very interested in Uwe's work, and the fact that he changed his registration so quickly says a great deal about his character. However, in the context of this thread his remarks posted as an apparently disinterested 3rd party audiophile were highly disingenuous. For the last several weeks there have been a great many posts touting his products, including links to find them.
Sure, Clearaudio stands to lose a great deal by having this information about their re-bodying and re-badging a cartridge widely known. Conversely, Uwe stands to increase his sales by a significant margin for the same reason. The fact that he was the one who brought that fact up reeks of self-interest.
By being registered as a manufacturer any possible conflict of interest is readily apparent.

Clearaudio never hid the fact that it is a DL-103. And I doubt they will lose anything. The people who buy Clearaudio carts are not the same as those who buy the DL-103.
I don't remember Uwe ever shilled his product and I had to search him out to get one back when.the only people who have been touting his products is "US", meaning the we who bought and have been using them.
eso is painting the wrong picture, but the people who buy from Uwe will not be influenced by eso's posts so I guess it is a wash all around.
