Normally, I wouldn't, but the SAS is a good match for the Type IV. I used one for a while, should have kept it.
That was back before the ruby cantilevered version was available.
I've got some extensive experience with LP Gear styli, also, though not with the Type IV. I don't think LP Gear's Shure replacement styli are worth the money, they're just not very good.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.

i put the JICO SAS and it sounds wonderful. i have never been a fan of the stock Shure styli in any of their cartridges so I went SAS. now, in a recent absolute sound, Paul Seydor reviewed just this combo, it's worth a read.

And, for the price of the stylus, you could get an AT VM540ML, which sounds better, tracks better, and is currently in production, and have enough left over to buy a rekkid or two.
But, the Type IV was always too laid back for my taste and the SAS stylus wakes it up. It's a good combination.
Not cost effect, but good nevertheless and you could spend more for something that isn't as good. So there's that.
Wouldn't waste a penny on any of the other aftermarket Shure styli.

I already own an AT VM540 ML, this Shure is for when I want to try something else.

the AT carts, a friend has one with the RigB mounting base which apparently ups the game. he switched from the very nice Ortofon 2M Blue (it went to his son's tt). his best tt sports the MC by AT...the AT33 PTG/2, a bit better.
in that I already had the Shure and the stylus on it had been accidentally snapped off, the cost of the SAS boron was a fair bargain for me. the curiosity of whether the V15VxMR would sound acceptable to me was strong as I was not listening to the cart because of that "something" that I can't live with about the stock Shure stylus.

Stereo shop in nearby Greensburg was selling the remaining stock for $150 each.
I had the money but stupidly passed.

Sane with me, my dealer had one left when I called. I procrastinated for a day and by then it was sold. One of my biggest audio regrets.
