Been collecting David Stone Martin record covers for...decades.
Have over 300, most attached to some damn great recordings!
He was one of the early artists to elevate standard 78 album sets
from blase' to... beyond. At this point there are only about a dozen
left that I "need" (that I'm aware of), mostly 78RPM sets. Just received
one today that it in absolutely pristine condition, remarkable for a piece
that is close to 80 years old. NM, inside and out, discs looks unplayed.
No 78 player so no audio report...

so much for recording folk music and was never expecting millions in revenue. One writer even said Asch Records was almost a non-profit company. He brought us Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Leadbelly, the Harry Smith Anthology of American Folk Music, and hundreds more.
Non-profit for the artists as well. As Dave Van Ronk said, "Moe Asch could be an exasperating man, and he would never pay you ten cents if he could get away with five, but he really loved the music." He was lovingly fictionalized by the Coen Brothers in "Inside Llewyn Davis"
