Your testing must go further.Take the digital output of the CD player and record the passages on a digital audio workstation. Now do a byte by byte comparison of the two files, green pen and no green pen.
What does the data say? Now it probably won't be 100% due to random errors so the results must be weighed to rule out these random errors.
If you are truly hearing a difference, this test will show it. Subtle changes in digital audio signals requires subtle changes in the bit patterns. This is why the analog parameters (LCR) in a digital interconnect are not an issue until they become extreme.

And that's where the mind over matter happens. How about some scientific measurements as to the effectiveness of this tweak? We have had close to 40 years now and yet nobody has proven this to be a problem. Other than some hearing what they think they hear!

"some hearing what they think they hear!"
Riddle me this. If I get 100% affirmation of "better sound" from people who know nothing about Hi-Fi listening techniques, green painted CDs, etc. then how could expectation bias enter into the equation?
All that my "testers" were aware of was that I was switching CDs, and nothing more. I didn't show them the green paint, or tell them about it. A simple "Which one sounds better to you?", and they picked the greened CD 100% of the time.
As for me taking measurements, I have no need. I feel the greened CD sounds better, but I knew which one I was listening to. My test subjects did not, so they weren't "thinking" or "imagining" anything.
The only possibility someone pointed out to me here on the Asylum years ago, was that maybe the two CDs didn't sound the same from the onset. That much I'll give you, because I didn't listen for that, prior to greening one.
