I have read a lot about SR Purple vs this fuse or that one, or much better than stock. What I want to know if anybody can tell me how they sound different from a stock fuse, warmer, more extended, etc?
TIA,
Aaron

Stock fuses are directional, just like audiophile fuses, so inserting them in the right direction will sound open, clear and natural, whereas inserting them in the wrong direction will sound thin, fuzzy, weird, unnatural and bass shy. It's not rocket science, guys.

EXACTLY: it is not even science!
You have obviously been following the wrong sheep.
I can never really hear a difference in fuse direction myself. Perhaps I am too old or my gear isn't up to the task, or both.
Oh, well, at least you tried. :-)
I've been reluctant to offer my thoughts as so many people attack the idea that a fuse has any affect. I have tried Orange and Purple SR fuses in my main gear and found in each case a significant improvement.
When tested in some well regarded vintage gear the improvement was not as pronounced.
I'm not a reviewer and don't have the words to clearly describe what I have heard. My best effort:
Orange are in my VAC amp..... The sound became liquid, extended and organic.
Purple in Modwright Oppo 105 power supply..... Minor change, quieter/blacker a bit more clear in a good way.
Purple Aurender N10.... more organic musical/PRAT a bit quieter.
Orange Very high end one off vacuum tube headphone amp..... Somewhat more musical quiet extended.
Purple in a rebuilt McIntosh MX110Z... Slight improvement just sounded better.
Orange in McShane Duce..... Slight improvement again it sounds better overall can't say exactly what.
I agree with this statement overall from Mossback ".... more organic musical/PRAT a bit quieter."
It was fairly easy with the lid off to swap the fuses in my CD Transport, swapping directions, not sure if I heard a difference at all, perhaps a bit more clarity in the direction the SR recommends.
Compared to a stock glass fuse in my CDT, the glass fuse seems a bit more detailed at first but lacks the warmth and bloom on the SR Purple. Installing the Purple back in the smooth but detailed sound comes through, warm but not too much, more bloom, just more organic and musical.
Moving on to my DAC, that was such a pain to get to and tearing apart a fairly pricey DAC already made me a bit nervous especially as hard as it is to get to the fuse. I made the decision to just leave the Purple in place in the correct orientation and put the DAC back together, done.
On my amp which came with a SR Orange when I bought it when I changed over to the Purple on the first day it was like wow, things really opened up, especially in the mids and highs. Again I tried changing direction but still couldn't reliable tell a difference, reinstalled the Purple in the correct orientation and called it a day.
One thing I may do is try swapping the Purple for the Orange on my amp again in the near future now that everything has settled, but I will save that for another day.
Bought on the buy 2 get on free sale, they are still expensive to me, but they do make a difference.
I damage a fuse hold and fuse in my EDGE M8 a few years back and when I went to a local electronics store they didn't have the direct replacement which was a "Little Fuse" brand, so I ask what else they had in stock. They said they had so Ceramic fuse of the same value/ratings. So I took a few, after the repair I put the Ceramic in and turn of the amp. I immediately noticed the sound was a lot better. I later order the Little Fuses to put in again and see if there was any difference and there was. The little Fuse didn't sound as good as the Ceramic fuse. I put the Ceramic back in and it have been there ever since.I then tried a Ceramic in the preamp I was using and it didn't sound any different from the original fuse which was a (BUZZ" Fuse) like in the power amp.
I just wonder why if there is supposely better "Audiophile" fuses why no nicer Fuse holders either PCB mount or Chassis mount?

Thanks Mossback,
I do believe that fuses make a difference. I was just wanting to make sure a move to the Purple over my stock fuse didn't make anything sound overly detailed, artificial, shrill, etc.
Sounds like going to Purple would be a thing to try. BTW I do have a SR Orange in my int amp that was in there when I bought, so I had no reference as to what difference it made over a stock fuse.
Aaron, I bought my fuses during a special offering done few times each year. Buy two the third is free. They offer a thirty day trial period. Simply return the fuse if you're not satisfied.
Chris at VH Audio is a dealer.
The fuses to my budget are expensive but a reasonable value considering what they provide.

I did order 3 from the special today from VH Audio. What a pain to get at the fuse in the Moon 680D, I wanted to check before purchase. Remove the cover, remove the hybrid power module, including removing the tiny ribbon cable from the module to the board, then once the power module is out, you have to open the module, from there the fuse in under a clear plastic shield. I will change it once and be done! I never want to do all that again to change a fuse.
I have not tried Purple, but have tried Orange in my CAT SL1, PrimaLuna CD, and a little Jolida integrated I use on the video rig.
These Oranges replaced HiFi Tuning and older SR fuses. The HiFi was in the PrimaLuna. Overall the effect is, at least to me, very similar one to the effect of ultrasonic cleaning of an LP. There's an overall lowering of noise floor. A blacker background if you will, that lets everything move more clearly to the fore. Dynamics are better and all around the reproduction becomes more convincing.
Effects are/were not universal across all devices. By far the most pronounced improvement was with the CD machine. The Orange in the CD moved its performance MUCH closer to the performance of my LP setup. That gap had gotten so large with the improvements I'd made to the LP setup that I even had thoughts of selling the PrimaLuna. With the addition of the Orange those thoughts evaporated. There was some minor, less noticeable improvements in the Jolida integrated, and zero improvement in the performance of my CAT. Although the CAT power supply is monstrously over engineered alreay.
I thought the price of the Orange was prohibitive, but the price of the Purple, a sacrificial device, is nuts IMO. I won't be trying the Purple because of the cost.
That may just be fine, since some people report they prefer the Orange to Purple.
I did find the Purple to veer from neutral in the direction of coolness and analytics. YMMV.Of course, Synergistic just launched the Master fuse at $595, so if you need the latest and greatest..

The standard suggestion is to replace your fuses (temporarily) with copper bar and listen that way for awhile to establish an audible reference.
(Since a copper bar has non of the non-linearities a fuse might have.)
When performing relative fuse comparisons....unless you know for a fact the two fuses have identical blowing characteristics....it's an irrelevant comparison.

I wouldn't take it personally. Many audiophiles only listen to what they want to hear.
