I noticed in the manual for these speakers that Mylar caps are used for bypassing. Is it possible to replace the caps with better quality and make an improvement in sound or, could it throw the crossovers off and degrade the sound?

Often there are differing opinions on using bypass caps at all. Sonicap recommended me to delete them in my SDA SRS 1.2TL Polks and after an A/B I agreed. It would be easy to do this test.

I suppose I could snip one end of the bypass caps to check the differences if any, in the sound? Thanks!
That cap can help block DC I think and saves tweeters from abuse if you will.
