Granite has a large amount of quartz contained within the stone. That makes it harder and dimensionally very stable over a wide temperature range, but it does have a tendency to add a certain amount of top end brittleness in my system.
I would just a washer of some sorts between the component and the current marble you are using. The material selected will of course have bearing on the resulting sound. Try pieces of brass first.

How about 3/4" plywood between the granite and the component? That's what I'm using now (with marble) and it sounds great. It's what Barry recommends too.
