a damping material which consists of a thin layer of a bytyl rubber compound with an aluminium skin on top. The butyl attaches to the metal of the case abd the result is a constrained layer damping arrangement.
Beloved by the car audio people - Dynamat is another product which is similar (although I personally prefer Cascade).

Just picked up some left over 'Roadkill' damping sheets from the local Car Stereo Installer. I will install it tonight and see/hear.
