"The inductor's resistance has to be figured into the crossover design"
That is what so many people miss when they start to "tinker".
The internal DC resistance may be a good thing. It can affect the Q of a filter circuit, the slope of a crossover, the freq of a filter and so forth.
When you change the DCR-other things will change also-not necessarily for the better.
You have to look at ALL the parameters that go into a particular circuit-not just a couple.
What "looks" good, may actually be bad for the OVERALL performance.
Unless you can accurately measure the changes to see if they are better, you are better off not messing with it.
