There are multiple reports of improving the ps on the RR-77. I just cannot see how.

If the AR uses a switching power supply as standard it will be affecting your mains quality. The effect of upgrading the supply may be as simple as reducing the hash introduced to the mains by the device' power supply.

I'm not even trying to guess why the PSU works. All I know is, it does.
