I have not tried the Teslaplex, Porter Ports, ACME or Wattgate outlets (have tried Wattgate plugs, though.)
The R1 is tops of the Oyaide line. I have 2 others, SWO-XXX and Ultimo, both very good, but trumped by the R1.
Also liked the Furutech copper and gold outlets, but not as much as Oyaide.
Cryoing makes a difference.
Prior to that I had P&S outlets and liked those much, but Furu was another breed entirely. Tried Hubbells and they were crap in my system! YMMV.
FYI, hospital grade outlets are made for chemical cleaning resistance, but are not necessarily any better than P&S regular stuff sonically. Al Sekela writes here that he liked the MRI version of the P&S and those are different than regular hospital grade outlets.
Follow Ups:
For my system in two homes... I've used P&S, Hubbell hospital (orange and white) PS Audio and last the Oyaide RS-1 from sponsor VH Audio. The RS-1 was by far the very best sounding in every way. This through a PS P-300 or not.
For me a hundred bucks for one duplex outlet is a large amount of cash. However the return for the money made it a huge bargain!
I’ve not tried the Teslaplex and am not likely to do so as the RS-1 is working for me and I am on a budget.
I found the P&S consistently great and not expensive at all. Not the easiest to find. Big box stores didn't carry them, just regular supply stores for the electrician's trade, and I live in a major metro area!
Hubbell failed me miserably, and that was with their better grades too. The sonic picture, even after considerable burn in, was like a doughnut with a hole in the middle: bass OK, HF OK, but mids sort of dropped out mysteriously. Never went for anything Hubbell after that.
I too, have those great ears with the lite beer budget, so spending the $100 on the R1 was a major jump for me. But it was well worth it.
For someone in the middle, $45-65 buys an excellent Furu, which is light years ahead of the P&S and Hubbell stuff I ever tried. I did not try the MRI P&S that Al did, and he does like that one for about the same price range I think.
