to expose the same length of core as the length of the braid, and then before twisting the braid use a pointy object (small phillips screw driver or equiv.) to make a small opening in the loose braid (without breaking a bunch of wires) between the bottom and the middle of the exposed braid length. Feed the oposite core (with teflon still attached, and before stripping the end) through the opening in the opposite braid, and then up through the middle of the braid all the way to the end. Do the same for the other side. Strip the necessary length of teflon core and then twist the core wire with the braid. This method offers a couple of advantages including additional strength resulting from the core being continuous to the termination point, less worry of a short near the junction area since the core wire is still encapsulated, and one less solder joint since the core wire is twisted at the end to the braid wire and terminated directly to your spade or banana along with the braid wire. Sorry I do not have any pictures of that portion of the cables before finishing, but I have made a number of these and this method works well.
Not sure what you're looking for but this is the same basic recipe as Jon's only using a different coax. Scroll down to near the bottom for construction illustrations.
