Hi:
I've spent over an hour searching for an answer, but since I don't know what question I should ask, I've not been successful. I'm setting up a small stereo with my Macbook Pro as the front end: MBP into EICO 20wpc integrated through AUX input to PSB Alpha B1 speaks. MBP is quiet when listening to internal speakers; amp, in the past has been dead quiet with no hum. Now I'm getting voracious 60 cycle hum that is attenuated by the amp volume control; every time a switched appliance [including the amp] turns on or off I get a horrendous pop that gives the speakers St. Vitus' Dance.
This is probably a common and easily fixed problem, but Hey! ignorance is bliss!

I suspect a ground loop from your sound card.
Letting us know which EICO integrated you have will help us determine the problem but first, check the connections between the MBP and the EICO and ensure they are mechanically and electrically solid.
